•Fractures of the Distal Phalanges. Four types of
fracture occur: transverse, longitudinal, comminuted, and chip.
•Chip fractures involve the posterior or anterior
corners at the phalangeal base. A posterior chip fracture inactivates extension
of the distal interphalangeal joint and produces a flexion deformity (mallet or
baseball finger).
COMPLICATIONS:
•Dorsal ulceration ,nail deformities , and maceration
of skin
•Swan neck deformity
